The Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva, met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, as well as the Resident Representative of the UN Development Programme and the UN Population Fund, Gulam Ishaqzai.

During the meeting, new opportunities for cooperation between IDEA and UN system agencies were discussed, including prospects for joint actions in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and addressing environmental issues.

The project aims to establish and effectively manage specially protected natural areas to preserve Azerbaijan's unique and globally rare examples of biodiversity. It should be noted that as part of this project, the reconstruction and improvement works carried out in the Gizilagach State Nature Reserve complex will result in the creation of the first specially protected marine area in the region in Azerbaijan.
