Leyla Aliyeva has held a meeting with Jan Dusik, Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for Europe

On December 3, 2014, the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Founder and Head of the IDEA Public Association, Leyla Aliyeva, held a bilateral meeting in Geneva with the Regional Director for Europe of the United Nations Environment Programme, Jan Dusik.
During the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva provided detailed information to her counterpart about the projects implemented by the IDEA Public Association in the field of nature conservation and environmental protection in our country and the region.
Emphasizing that there are many similarities between the activities of the Public Association and the mandate of UNEP in a number of areas, Leyla Aliyeva proposed the implementation of joint projects aimed at addressing current environmental issues with the participation of both organizations. Leyla Aliyeva also expressed her interest in continuing in the future the “Green Week Conference Series” successfully held in Azerbaijan in 2012 with the joint organization of IDEA and UNEP, as well as other similar events.
Mr. Dusik stated that they are closely familiar with the successful activities of IDEA and carefully follow its projects, noting that UNEP is always ready to support IDEA in solving environmental problems and to cooperate in this field.
During the meeting, within the framework of future cooperation prospects, the parties discussed the signing of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding to elevate cooperation between IDEA and UNEP to a higher level, as well as the implementation for the first time in Azerbaijan of joint pilot projects in the field of the “Green Economy.”
