The implementation of the project for establishing orchards for low-income families has begun as a joint initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s “Regional Development” Public Union, the IDEA Public Union, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

On April 6, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, and FAO Goodwill Ambassador, participated in the first event held within the framework of the pilot project for planting fruit trees in the Ismayilli district.

A total of 340 fruit trees were planted on a 1.7-hectare land allocated by the Ismayilli District Executive Authority. The established orchard has been divided among three low-income families living in Ismayilli and has been provided free of charge for use by Vusal Ismayilov, a Group I veteran of the Karabakh war, Rahim Aliyev, a Group II veteran of the Karabakh war, and Nureddin Gasimov, a member of a martyr’s family. These families will take care of the orchards, harvest the products, generate income, and improve their financial well-being.

In the future, the project is planned to be implemented in other districts of our country as well.

The socio-economic significance of the project lies in the fact that establishing such orchards will not only improve the population’s welfare but also contribute to reducing the country’s dependence on the import of agricultural products.
