Rory Moore, a marine biodiversity expert from the Blue Marine Foundation, was dispatched to Azerbaijan and on October 26 was received by Leyla Aliyeva, the founder and head of the IDEA Public Union.

As is known, a delegation led by Charles Clover, the chairman of the world-renowned British marine environmental protection organization, the Blue Marine Foundation, visited Azerbaijan in February of this year at the invitation of Leyla Aliyeva, founder of the IDEA Public Union. During the visit, the ecological situation of the Caspian Sea was discussed, and an agreement was reached to involve the Foundation's leading specialists in the restoration of the Caspian fauna.

During the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva provided information about the work carried out by IDEA in the field of environmental protection in the region and the achievements made. Leyla Aliyeva expressed concern about the ecological state of the Caspian, particularly the recent degradation of its rich fauna, and emphasized the importance of utilizing international experience as a way out of the situation. For this purpose, IDEA closely collaborates with leading international experts specialized in marine environmental protection.

Rory Moore, in turn, noted that Azerbaijan has traditionally been famous for its abundant fish resources and, therefore, has favorable potential for the development of this field. The British expert stated that during his current visit, he would analyze the fish resources in the Caspian Sea and inland waters, as well as the situation in the country's fishing industry, and prepare a detailed report to be presented to the IDEA Public Union. The report will also include recommendations for restoring the Caspian's biodiversity. Rory Moore emphasized the special importance of applying modern technologies and using scientific methods to improve the situation.

The Blue Marine Foundation was established in 2010 to protect the marine environment and prevent the threats facing the oceans. The Foundation's mission is to achieve effective protection of 10 percent of the oceans by creating marine reserves by 2020.
