Leyla Aliyeva participated in the ceremony of releasing sturgeon into the Caspian Sea.

On June 17, as part of the cooperation between the IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan to improve the ecological environment of the Caspian Sea, a ceremony was held in Neftchala to release juvenile sturgeon bred at the Khilli Sturgeon Hatchery into the water.
The event was attended by the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev, and UN Environment Programme Goodwill Ambassador, legendary hockey player Vyacheslav Fetisov.
It should be noted that in recent decades, the populations of rare fish species in the Caspian Sea have reached a critical level of endangerment due to the negative impact of human activity, pollution, smuggling, and overfishing. To comprehensively address this issue, various conservation, restoration, and public awareness measures are being carried out by the IDEA Public Union in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the United Kingdom’s “Blue Marine Foundation” (BLUE).
