Agriculturally Significant Trees Planted Along the Highway

On November 11, jointly organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the IDEA Public Union, olive trees of agricultural significance were planted along the highway near the Zığ-Heydar Aliyev International Airport, taking into account domestic demand and export potential.
The tree-planting campaign was organized to support the Azerbaijani President’s calls to increase exports and reduce imports in the agricultural sector, to promote the cultivation and production of local products, and to back ongoing economic reforms.
The event was attended by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov, ministry staff, as well as representatives of the public and environmental non-governmental organizations, totaling nearly 300 participants. To expand food production, a new green area consisting of olive trees was created on a 1.5-hectare plot along the highway near the Zığ-Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Afterwards, the participants provided agrotechnical care to green areas covering more than 30 hectares.
It should be noted that similar campaigns for planting agriculturally significant trees are also carried out along other highways and in forest fund areas across the country. Planting of walnut, hazelnut, pomegranate, mulberry, and other trees aimed at meeting local demand and export continues.
