The International Ecological Camp for Youth, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, the IDEA campaign (International Dialogue for Environmental Action), and the Nature Friends Public Union, is ongoing.

The international camp is being implemented in accordance with the Priority Action Plan for cooperation in the social and humanitarian sphere of the CIS countries for 2013–2014.

It should be recalled that 2013 was declared the “Year of Ecology and Environmental Protection” in the CIS countries.

The purpose of holding the camp is to strengthen ecological awareness in our country and around the world, increase young people’s responsibility toward the environment and ecology, as well as to give a more intensive impetus to the implementation of environmental projects in Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of the camp, participants have become familiar with environmental projects implemented in Azerbaijan, and seminars, group and role-playing activities, as well as environmental actions, have been held on topics such as “Sustainable Use of Waste,” “Eco-Volunteering,” “Ecotourism,” “Eco-Conflictology,” “Wildlife Conservation,” “Specially Protected Areas,” and others.

It should be noted that the international camp is being held in stages in the capital city of Baku and in the Ismayilli district. Nearly 80 young people from various CIS countries, including Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, are participating in the event. Along with experts working in the field of environmental protection, a responsible official for humanitarian issues from the Executive Committee of the CIS countries is also taking part in the event.

The Ecological Camp of CIS Youth started on July 8.
