Within the framework of the project "Responsible Hunting – Guardians of Biodiversity," initiated by the IDEA Public Union, seminars were held for local residents and hunters in several districts of Azerbaijan.

The seminars were organized on March 7 in Ismayilli, March 9 in Masalli, and March 11 in Sabirabad districts.

The seminars were attended by representatives of the State Support Council for Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Regional Development Public Union, the Military Hunting Union under the Special State Protection Service, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF Azerbaijan), as well as independent environmental experts.

Seminar participants presented and discussed the essence of the project, hunting season and hunting laws, the nature of Azerbaijan, illegal hunting and applicable penalties, ethical rules in hunting, and animals included in the Red Book and those of hunting significance.

It should be noted that the practical part of the seminar took place at the "Sarisu" Hunting Farm located in the Imishli district, with the participation of hunters.

To prevent the killing of our fauna species purely due to interest in shooting, during the practical session, hunters were provided with information about shooting centers operating in Novkhani and Gabala. They were explained that they could spend their leisure time at these shooting centers without harming fauna species. It should be noted that the opening of such shooting centers in other districts is also planned.

Overall, nearly 200 hunters and local residents participated in the seminars.

The public awareness project "Responsible Hunting" was launched in June 2016 on the initiative of IDEA, with the support of the State Support Council for Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in partnership with the Military Hunting Union under the Special State Protection Service and the Regional Development Public Union.

The main goal of the project is to promote responsible behavior toward nature among hunters, prevent the killing of fauna species whose hunting is prohibited, and avoid environmental pollution resulting from hunting activities.

Within the framework of the project, extensive awareness-raising activities on responsible hunting were carried out among the public, especially hunters. In this regard, it should be noted that IDEA produced a video dedicated to promoting responsible hunting, reflecting the country’s hunting traditions, the importance of protecting our nature and biodiversity, and environmental protection. Additionally, for the purpose of informing the public, especially hunting enthusiasts, the project partners prepared and distributed educational booklets such as "General Rules on Hunting," "Rules for the Use of Fish and Other Aquatic Bioresources," and "Extracts from the Red Book."
