MİDA and IDEA Public Union organized a tree-planting campaign dedicated to the birthday of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.

On May 5, 2018, a tree-planting event dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, was held by the State Housing Construction Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MIDA) together with the IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Protection) Public Union. The event was organized in the area of the first neighborhood of the Yasamal Residential Complex, the Agency’s first project.

The protection of ecology and the improvement of the environment have been an important part of the multifaceted activities of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. One of the priority directions of Azerbaijan’s development strategy is to ensure the protection of nature, the improvement of the ecological situation, and the living of citizens in a healthy natural environment at the highest level. This tradition, established by the Great Leader, is successfully continued by his worthy successor, President Ilham Aliyev. Thanks to his attention and care, consistent measures are being implemented in our country to constantly improve the ecological situation, increase existing green areas, and plant new trees. The projects carried out by the IDEA Public Union, which started its activities in 2011 on the initiative of the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva, not only serve environmental protection but also play an important role in raising public awareness on ecological issues and encouraging people to care for nature.

When designing residential complexes to be built with the aim of improving the living conditions of the population, the State Housing Construction Agency pays special attention to ensuring a healthy and ecologically clean environment in the area. The purpose of the organized event was to draw people’s attention to the protection of greenery, contribute to the expansion of landscaping efforts in the country, and encourage the younger generation to work together in combating environmental problems.

During the event, more than one hundred plants, including Eldar pine, plane trees, olive trees, and ornamental shrubs, were planted in the area, taken care of, and cleaning and landscaping work was carried out in the green zone.

The Yasamal Residential Complex, the first project of the State Housing Construction Agency, is located along the Outer Ring Road. The total area of the Complex is 11.6 hectares, and the area is ecologically healthy and clean. There is a green zone of nearly 5 hectares adjacent to the area. In addition, special attention was paid to landscaping during the design process. According to the Azerbaijani State Construction Standards, the construction footprint of residential buildings can cover up to 40% of the total area. In the Yasamal Residential Complex, however, this indicator is about 25%, which allows for the creation of spacious courtyards, green zones, as well as playgrounds and a stadium within the settlement. Additionally, recreation areas for residents and various attractions for children’s entertainment have been planned.
