New Trees Planted in Place of Illegally Cut Trees in Narimanov District

The destroyed green spaces in Narimanov district of Baku have been restored on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union.
On November 3, a complaint was received from residents regarding illegal tree cutting at 25 Aliyar Aliyev Street in Narimanov district of Baku through the IDEA Public Union’s Emergency Aid to Nature – 1113 “Hotline.” IDEA specialists immediately arrived at the scene and, together with the relevant state authorities, determined that 2 trees had been cut down illegally in the area.
On the initiative of the founder of the IDEA Public Union, the area was put under supervision for the purpose of restoring the greenery, and 9 cypress and pine trees were planted at the specified address.
Representatives of the IDEA Public Union, Narimanov District Executive Authority, and Baku City Landscaping Department participated in the tree-planting event.
It should be noted that within the framework of the “Say No to Tree Cutting” program, a joint project of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the IDEA Public Union, 235 complaints from citizens regarding illegal tree cutting in Baku were reviewed over the past year, and measures were taken to resolve them positively. As a result of the program’s implementation, a significant reduction in cases of greenery destruction in the capital has been observed. In addition to preventive measures, the IDEA Public Union has planted more than 5 million trees across the country through large-scale tree-planting campaigns carried out since its establishment.
The goal of IDEA’s greening projects is to restore ecological balance, contribute to nature, direct public attention to the protection of green spaces, and strengthen public oversight in environmental protection efforts.
The IDEA Public Union calls on all citizens to contribute to the protection of greenery and to report any cases of illegal tree cutting to the “Hotline” established for this purpose (1113 from all mobile operators and city phones).
