Another bison calf has been born in Shahdag National Park

Within the framework of the bison reintroduction project implemented by IDEA Public Union, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the WWF office in Azerbaijan, the offspring of another bison brought to Azerbaijan has been born.
Arzu Səmədova, an official from the Biodiversity Conservation Service, stated that this brings the number of bison calves in Shahdag National Park to five. The calf is healthy, has adapted to the local environment, and joined the herd.
“Recall that according to the Cooperation Agreement signed between IDEA Public Union and Shahdag National Park, in order to restore the extinct bison population, reintroduce them into the country’s nature, and increase their numbers, 17 bison were brought from Europe and released into the Ismayilli section of Shahdag National Park during 2019–2020.”
