On July 17-19, IDEA Public Union, organized by the Azerbaijan Scouts Association and supported by the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held the next eco-scout camp titled "Guarding Nature" at Shahdag National Park.

The purpose of the camps organized within the framework of IDEA's eco-scout program is to inform young people about Azerbaijan's rich nature, endangered flora and fauna, to promote nature conservation, to teach them to use the resources provided by nature wisely and efficiently, as well as to encourage proper behavior in the wild and recreation without harming the environment.

The camp brought together 100 young people aged 18-25 who have ecological education or experience in this field and are distinguished by their ecological activity.

With the participation of volunteers, an eco-tour was organized within the territory of Shahdag National Park. The young people were informed about the main purpose of creating Shahdag National Park, the types of landscapes unique to the area, flora and fauna included in the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Caucasian bison reintroduced to Azerbaijan from zoos in France and Belgium.

During the three-day camp, training on Azerbaijan's biodiversity and national parks was conducted for the participants, including seminars and practical trainings on setting up tents in nature, first aid, necessary equipment for fieldwork, and safe clothing. Competitions and contests were held, and the young people participated in hiking, discussions on interesting ecological topics, and environmental games.

During the camp, a hike was organized to Lake Garanohur, known for its rich nature and scenic beauty.

At the end of the camp, participants were presented with souvenirs and certificates.

It should be noted that IDEA Public Union's "Eco-Scout" project was launched in March 2017. The purpose of the project is to involve young people in nature conservation, encourage them to study and protect wildlife in depth, and engage in beneficial ecological activities in society. The first camp within the framework of the "Eco-Scout" project was held in May last year in Shirvan, followed by camps in Aghgol and Goygol National Parks.

In terms of ecological awareness, reducing and gradually eliminating environmental damage caused by human activity, and contributing to the formation of ethical behavior toward nature, it is planned to hold "Guarding Nature" eco-scout camps in other national parks of our country as well.
