On April 24, on the initiative of Leyla Əliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, 21 large trees were planted at 109 Səməd Vurğun Street in Baku in place of 16 trees that had been destroyed.

The destruction of trees that had served the rest and health of people living in the area for many years could have posed a serious threat to the environment of our city and the health of the population. The IDEA Public Union, which works for the protection of our country's ecology and biodiversity and has achieved significant success in these areas, could not remain indifferent to this issue. For this reason, on the initiative of the founder of the organization, the restoration of greenery in the area was ensured.

More than 100 young people from various parts of the capital came to the tree planting event, showing support for IDEA’s efforts to restore greenery. This tree planting event was also supported by the Nasimi District Executive Authority.

It was stated during the event that within the past year, the “Say No to Tree Cutting” program, a joint project of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the IDEA Public Union, received 125 complaints from citizens regarding illegal tree cutting in Baku, and actions were taken to resolve them positively. As a result of the successful implementation of the program, a significant reduction in cases of greenery destruction has been observed in the capital. In addition to preventive measures, the IDEA Public Union, through large-scale tree planting campaigns carried out since its establishment, has planted more than 4 million trees across the country. This process continues nationwide within the framework of IDEA’s “Green Marathon” project.

The aim of IDEA’s greening projects is to restore ecological balance, contribute to nature, raise public awareness about the protection of greenery, and strengthen public oversight in environmental protection efforts.

The IDEA Public Union calls on all citizens to contribute to the protection of greenery in Baku and to report cases of illegal tree cutting through the specially created hotline (1113 from all mobile operators and city phones).
