From July 5 to 10, 2012, in the city of Shaki, the III Student Summer School was held under the motto “The Clean City!” jointly organized by the IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) campaign, established on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and “Təmiz Şəhər” JSC.
Raising public awareness in the field of waste management is of great importance for the economical and efficient use of natural resources. Educating the youth, who represent our future, in this area ensures sustainable and consistent development in environmental protection and waste management.
The main goal of the III Student Summer School was to cultivate a green mindset among young people, ensure their active participation in environmental protection, and train young specialists actively involved in waste management.
During the summer school, students acquired knowledge on basic concepts in waste management, types of waste, the waste management process, and disposal methods. Specialists from “Təmiz Şəhər” JSC shared information about the progress made in waste management in our country and the planned projects carried out by the Company.
Based on the acquired knowledge, staged debate tournaments were organized in the form of public discussions on topics such as economic and environmental safety, the impact of shopping on the environment, and responsible behavior toward the environment while shopping. In addition, various sports and intellectual games, as well as quizzes, were held to make productive use of the students’ free time.
During the summer school, students practically applied the concept of “green thinking” by using only notebooks and pens made from recycled materials.
