On June 10, in connection with "World Environment Day" and the opening of the beach season, a traditional cleanup campaign was organized at the Novkhani beach by IDEA Public Union and "Clean City" JSC.

The main purpose of the event, attended by more than 200 volunteers, was to promote cleanliness along the seashores, prevent coastal areas from being littered with household waste, and involve all young people in the fight for the protection of the marine environment. During the cleanup, participants equipped with necessary sanitary supplies sorted the collected waste and identified the most commonly observed litter on the beaches. Special equipment was also brought to the area to organize the waste collection process more effectively. Afterwards, all collected waste was delivered by special transport to the Baku Balakhani Solid Household Waste Sorting Plant.

The campaign attracted wide public interest, and individuals representing various age groups from private organizations and diplomatic missions in the country, including Baku State University, Azerbaijan University of Cooperation, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Baku Slavic University, Baku Oxford School, Oxbridge Academy, and Baku European Lyceum, voluntarily joined IDEA’s initiative.

It should be noted that representatives of the Binagadi District Executive Authority also participated in the event.

Placing special emphasis on awareness-raising in its activities, IDEA Public Union, together with local and international partners, regularly organizes such cleanup campaigns along the Caspian shores, including rivers, to preserve, enhance, and protect the Caspian Sea’s bioresources.

Considering the negative impacts of waste on the environment, including the damage and losses to biodiversity caused by litter, IDEA Public Union and "Clean City" JSC call on everyone not to pollute our Planet and to take care of the environment!
