On December 26, an event was held at the IDEA Animal Care Center within the framework of the “Ecological Laboratory for Children” project jointly implemented by the IDEA Public Association and the “Sevimli bala” organization.

The training, organized with the participation of nearly 100 children aged 6–11 living in Children’s Homes No. 1, 2, and 3, was dedicated to the theme of “love for nature.”

During the training, the “young ecologists” were provided with extensive information about interesting facts about our planet, wildlife, ecosystems, animal classification, and the extinction of animal species, as well as explanations of the changes occurring in nature during the winter season, snow, its structure, and the process of its formation.

During the training held on the eve of the New Year, young ecologists were informed about ways to prepare a New Year fir tree without harming the environment. In the course of the training, the children became acquainted with the beloved residents of the IDEA Animal Care Center—stray dogs and cats—as well as animals such as rabbits, turtles, guinea pigs, iguanas, parrots, various species of fish, and others, and were given the opportunity to feed them and take care of them. Subsequently, the documentary film “Shirvan National Park” from the “9 Wonders of Azerbaijan” series, a special project of the IDEA Public Association, was screened for the children.

In order to involve children in the protection of greenery, flowers were planted together in the courtyard of the Center, and the rules of caring for them were demonstrated. As a continuation of the event, a New Year celebration and interesting entertainments were organized for the children.

At the end of the training, the IDEA Public Association and the “Sevimli Bala” organization presented New Year gifts to the young ecologists of Children’s Homes No. 1, 2, and 3.

The “Ecological Laboratory for Children” training, implemented since January 2015, is significant not only for providing children with an interesting and enjoyable day, but also for ensuring that they acquire ecological knowledge from an early age. It should be noted that within the framework of the project, trainings covering various ecological topics—such as climate change and global warming, the “green city,” waste and its recycling, seasons and trees, air pollution, environmentally friendly and healthy food, the properties of water and its protection, energy and energy conservation, animals and their care—have been held regularly every month. Overall, nearly 1,000 children have been guests of the ecological laboratory.

Those wishing to participate from next year in the “Ecological Laboratory for Children” to be organized at the Resource Centers of the IDEA Public Association are requested to contact the IDEA Public Association at (497-63-16).
