Children's “New Year” celebration

On December 22, a “New Year” celebration for children was held at the Zira Cultural Center for participants of the 4th All-Republic Forum of Azerbaijani Children, including children in need of special care, those deprived of parental care, children from refugee and internally displaced families, and children with disabilities, jointly organized by the IDEA Public Association and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Founder and Head of the IDEA Public Association, attended the event.
It should be noted that the 4th All-Republic Forum of Azerbaijani Children was held in Baku on November 20, jointly organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, and the United Nations Children’s Fund. The All-Republic Children’s Forums are held with the aim of ensuring children’s participation in decision-making related to their rights, providing them with opportunities to put forward initiatives and proposals regarding their problems, and drawing public attention to the protection of children’s rights.
During the event, the children visited the Resource Center located at the Zira Cultural Center of the IDEA Public Association. Later, a tour was organized for them within the Center and across the ecopark area.
In order to involve children in the protection of greenery and to cultivate a sense of love and care for nature from an early age, trees and flowers were planted together with them in the courtyard of the Center. Young nature lovers were informed about environmentally friendly ways of preparing a “New Year” fir tree without harming the environment, and were also provided with extensive information on the protection of greenery, as well as the proper planting and watering of trees.
During the event, in order to showcase the enchanting natural beauty of our country and emphasize the importance of protecting our nature, the documentary film “Birds’ Paradise – Aghgol National Park” from the special IDEA Public Association project series “9 Wonders of Azerbaijan” was screened.
As a continuation of the event, a New Year celebration and entertaining activities were organized for the children.
At the end, New Year gifts were presented to the young participants by the IDEA Public Association.
The purpose of bringing together forum participants from all cities and districts of Azerbaijan who stand out for their activity, special skills, and abilities is not only to organize an engaging New Year celebration for them, but also to involve active young people, regardless of their age, in solving environmental problems, encourage them to join the fight for nature conservation, and support the development of their leadership skills in this field.
