On September 7, 2013, in connection with the annually celebrated “International Cleanup Week,” IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) organized a cleanup campaign in the Nardaran beach area.

The main purpose of the campaign was to collect waste in the beach areas and send it for recycling for useful purposes, to engage young people in keeping natural areas clean and to organize their leisure time effectively, as well as to encourage people relaxing in coastal areas not to litter and to clean the area after their recreation.

Overall, more than 100 young people participated in the campaign. During the event, participants followed hygiene rules, wore special gloves, and separated the collected waste into food and non-food items for sorting.

The collected waste was transported to the Baku Household Waste Sorting Plant in Balakhani, where it was further sorted. Later, recyclable materials were separated from the total mass and used as raw materials for recycling enterprises.
