“Green Marathon” tree-planting campaigns – Karadagh and Astara districts

Under the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, new tree-planting events were held within the framework of the “Nationwide Greening Marathon” (“Green Marathon”).

On April 5, in Baku’s Garadagh district, Müşfiqabad settlement, 1,200 trees of various species suitable for the local soil and climate conditions were planted with the participation of volunteer youth, while in the Astara district, 1,000 trees were planted.

The main goal of the project, organized jointly by the IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, is to increase green spaces, promote tree planting, contribute to environmental protection—including enhancing the country’s floral biodiversity—and raise awareness about the preservation of greenery.

The IDEA Public Union, which places special emphasis on increasing green spaces—essential for improving the overall ecological situation and minimizing the impacts of climate change—continues to carry out large-scale tree-planting events in other regions of the country together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

Aiming to plant nearly 1 million trees nationwide during the spring and autumn seasons, the project partners call on everyone to support this initiative and unite for the green future of our nature.
