Under the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, the next nationwide mass tree-planting campaign has been launched as part of the “National Greening Marathon” (“Green Marathon”).

Organized by the IDEA Public Union with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the campaign aims to plant nearly 1 million trees across all regions of the country during the spring and autumn planting seasons, increasing green spaces.

The main goal of the project is to expand green areas, promote tree planting, contribute to environmental protection, enhance the country’s floral biodiversity, and raise awareness about the preservation of greenery.

To actively involve the public in this tree-planting movement, encourage care for nature, and support participation in the planting process, the project organizers plan to gift tree seedlings to all volunteers throughout the Marathon.

During the campaigns, trees suitable for the soil and climate conditions of each region—such as apricot, jujube, pine, pistachio, cypress, acacia, maple, locust, walnut, oak, and chestnut—are planted.

The Marathon, implemented by the IDEA Public Union together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, will continue across the country until the end of the spring season and throughout the next autumn planting season.

Mass tree planting also supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, one of the key commitments of UNFCCC member countries at the 26th Climate Change Summit to be held in Glasgow in November this year. At a time when the entire world is fighting to protect our planet, each of us must strive to fulfill our responsibility.

The IDEA Public Union, intending to continue efforts to protect and expand greenery in our country, calls on the public, together with its partners, to actively participate in environmental initiatives.

Let us unite and protect our nature, which becomes even more beautiful as it grows greener!
