The “Green Marathon” Has Been Launched.

On November 5, 2014, at the initiative of Ms. Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, the “Nationwide Greening” marathon was launched. 

The main goal of the marathon is to prevent the dangers that may arise from the reduction of green spaces and to contribute to environmental protection by promoting tree planting.

According to the project, trees are planned to be planted during the next two planting seasons (in November and from the end of March to the beginning of April), with the marathon scheduled to conclude at the beginning of May. The marathon will be regularly covered on the IDEA Public Union’s website (www.ideacampaign.az), and during its course, the number of trees planted in various cities and districts, their locations, photos, and other information will be posted on this website.

The project envisages the participation of the executive authorities of 76 districts and cities of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the planting of more than one million trees across the country. Since its establishment, the IDEA Public Union has attached special importance to the preservation and expansion of green spaces in our country and has implemented a number of successful projects in this field.
