The second phase of the “Green Marathon” is being launched.

As is known, on November 5, 2014, at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union, the “Nationwide Greening Marathon” (Green Marathon) was launched.

The main goal of the project is to prevent the dangers that may arise from the reduction of green areas and to contribute to environmental protection by promoting tree planting.

The first phase of the marathon (autumn planting season – November 2014) was met with great interest by the public, and with the participation of the executive authorities of 76 districts and cities of the Republic of Azerbaijan, representatives of the private sector, and citizens, nearly 800,000 trees were planted across the country in a short period.

In connection with the arrival of the spring planting season, the IDEA Public Union announces the start of the second phase of the “Nationwide Greening Marathon” and invites all interested organizations to participate in this project.

The progress of the marathon will continue to be regularly covered on the website of the IDEA Public Union (http://ideacampaign.org/green_marathone/), and information such as the number of trees planted, their locations, photos, and other details in various cities and districts will be posted on the website.

The “Nationwide Greening Marathon” is planned to be completed at the beginning of May this year.
