“Green Package” Teaching Aid Presented

On May 16, the presentation of the second edition of the “Green Package” multimedia textbook was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

The teaching aid was developed to create an early understanding of the environment and sustainable development among schoolchildren and to cultivate a sense of responsibility toward nature in young people. It covers various aspects of human–nature relationships, as well as the secrets of achieving economic growth and development without harming the environment. The textbook’s richness in interactive games and video clips makes it engaging and easy to learn.

It should be noted that the “Green Package” was first published in Azerbaijan in 2006, and over the past decade, the development of information technologies necessitated its update. In this regard, the new edition of the “Green Package” was prepared as a result of a two-year joint effort by the IDEA Public Union, the Regional Environmental Center (REC) for Central and Eastern Europe, and the “For Sustainable Development” Public Union.

Representatives of state institutions, non-governmental organizations, as well as teachers and specialists from various regions of the country participated in the presentation.

During the event, along with the authors of the “Green Package,” representatives of the IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Education provided participants with extensive information about the project. It was noted that the “Green Package,” considered an interactive teaching aid on sustainable development and the environment, is intended for secondary school teachers and students, as well as for the supplementary education system, and the aid has a modular structure.

The presented “Green Package” teaching aid is scheduled to be made available for teachers and students starting from the next academic year. Its implementation in the country will not only be an innovation in the field of education but will also allow schoolchildren to understand the environment through innovative methods.

It should be noted that environmental education for young people is one of the priority areas of activity for the IDEA Public Union. The environmental education program, regularly implemented in IDEA’s resource centers in Baku and Ganja, covers children and youth of various age groups starting from age 5.
