A bird belonging to the Bearded Reedling family of the Passerine order of the Passerine order. It is distributed in the Kura-Araz lowland and the Lankaran plain in Azerbaijan. It is a sedentary bird.
Its body length is 15.0–17.0 cm, and its weight is 8–9 g. Its tail is stepped, reaching a length of 8.8–10.7 cm. Its wings are round and relatively short. It has a conical beak and legs with strong claws.
It lives in the reed beds of rivers and lakes. It also builds its nest in the reed bed. It has a spherical nest with a side entrance.
It begins to lay eggs towards the end of March. It has 4–8 eggs. In winter, it can be observed flying in flocks. It feeds on insects and reed seeds.
