A species of bird belonging to the Sitta family of the Passerine order of the bird class. It is widespread in Azerbaijan on slopes and bare mountains up to 2000 m above the Caspian Sea level (in the Lesser Caucasus). It lives on rocks, ravines and rocky outcrops. It builds its nest from clay in rock crevices. It is a sedentary bird.
It is a very lively, fast and mobile bird. This species climbs hard rocks by holding on tightly to rock ledges with its claws. It settles in ravines, bare mountain slopes and rocky outcrops.
