A species of animal belonging to the family of the even-toed ungulates of the order of the Mammals. In Azerbaijan, it is distributed only in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The weight of males is 45-74 kg, and females are 35-50 kg. The height at the withers is 80-90 cm in males, and 80-85 cm in females. In the summer, the hair is short, thick, straight and sparse, the color is rusty red-brown. In winter, the hair, which turns gray or gray-brown, is thin, long and densely located. Males have thick and large (up to 75 cm) horns that are curled up from the sides and back. Females sometimes have horns that sometimes reach 15 cm in length.
It lives in arid areas. In autumn, when snow falls in the highlands, they migrate to the middle and lower foothills, and back in the spring. Some older males, along with young individuals, remain in groups in the foothills, leading a secretive lifestyle. Mating begins in November and continues until early January.
