An environmental alliance has been established in Azerbaijan
23.02.2021The DANMA Alliance (National Alliance for a Sustainable Future of Azerbaijan) has been formed, bringing together organizations working in the field of ecology and supporting environmental protection policies.
At a recent press conference, it was noted that despite the flexibility of the concept of sustainable development, its foundation lies in the ecological well-being of the planet.
The coordinator of the alliance, Gülsara Gasymova, highlighted that since March of last year, an inclusive dialogue has been initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, the founder of the IDEA Public Union, aiming to unite efforts in environmental protection. The result of discussions and meetings was the creation of an alliance aimed at supporting a sustainable future and a green environment in the country, including mobilizing youth and fostering cooperation between the private sector, government, and civil society. The alliance has also begun developing plans for further action.
One of the participants in the alliance, Tural Mageramov, emphasized the importance of drawing on international experience to address environmental issues. He also called on youth to actively participate in environmental protection efforts to transform Azerbaijan into an environmentally clean country.
The founder of the "Ecofront" group, Javid Gara, underscored the need to combat the pollution of forest and natural areas, urging prevention of illegal actions concerning natural resources.
It is also worth noting that various organizations and student clubs have joined the alliance, including WWF Azerbaijan, the Social-Ecological Center "Ecosphere," AZGREEN, and others.
