Containers for Collecting Clothing and Footwear

10.01.2019

On the initiative of Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva, various environmental and social projects have been launched in our country. IDEA, attaching special importance to waste reduction, recycling, and secondary waste processing, conducts large-scale awareness-raising activities in this direction. Since 2017, thousands of tons of paper and plastic waste have been collected and sent for recycling through special containers installed by IDEA in hundreds of offices and enterprises. In the near future, IDEA plans to distribute special containers for collecting used batteries among enterprises.

Like other items, the disposal and decomposition of clothing pose a threat to the environment. This is due to the emission of toxic substances and gases, as well as the damage caused by the production of new goods.

Taking into account the positive impact of reusing on the environment and the growing demand for clothing items, IDEA has installed containers for collecting clothing and footwear in Baku. In these containers, located in various parts of the city, residents can place clothing they no longer need and would like to share with those in need. The containers were initially installed at "Bravo" hypermarkets and the "Bravo" supermarket on Babek Avenue, as well as at the SOCAR Petroleum gas station on the same avenue. Similar clothing collection boxes are planned to be installed in other convenient locations in Baku soon.

IDEA calls on the residents of our city to lend a helping hand to those in need by placing clean clothing items in IDEA donation boxes instead of disposing of them, thereby reducing harm to the environment. Before placing clothing in the containers, it is recommended to wash and clean them, and also not to dispose of any foreign items or trash.
