Initiatives to Support Young Beekeepers Implemented within the Promotion of Eco-Entrepreneurship among Azerbaijani Youth Project
17.06.2021As part of the Promotion of Eco-Entrepreneurship among Azerbaijani Youth project, initiatives have been carried out to support young beekeepers and develop beekeeping as a vital agricultural sector.
The project was initiated by the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder, and head of IDEA, Leyla Aliyeva.
According to the organization, a two-week training session was conducted for a group of young volunteers within the project. Twenty-one participants underwent both theoretical and practical training in establishing and developing beekeeping enterprises.
The young individuals have been provided with all necessary resources and equipment for beekeeping, ensuring conducive conditions for efficient production.
To enable young entrepreneurs to increase the number of beehives within two years, regular monitoring will be conducted in their eco-farms.
Among the main objectives of the project are expanding the habitat of bees in Azerbaijan, promoting beekeeping as eco-entrepreneurship in the country's regions, supporting the production of natural honey, and enhancing the well-being of low-income families while providing employment opportunities for youth.
The project is being implemented in collaboration with IDEA, the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation, the State Employment Agency, and the ABAD organization.
Bees and other pollinators play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation, and beekeeping is considered the safest and most beneficial form of agriculture from an ecological perspective. Honeybees actively participate in pollinating plants, thereby increasing their yield and viability, as highlighted in the statement.
