The World's Largest Lesson Project

24.09.2018

The World's Largest Lesson project has been launched in partnership between the IDEA Public Union, the Azerbaijan Representation of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the Ministry of Education. The project's aim is to disseminate knowledge about sustainable development goals in secondary schools across the country.

On September 25, 2015, global leaders adopted the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030, making sustainable development a priority. In connection with this, UNICEF and other organizations proposed the idea of conducting the World's Largest Lesson. The project's goal is to hold lessons on Global Goals every year from late September. In Azerbaijan, the lesson will focus on climate change and its impact on the environment, as well as how children can contribute to its protection. Special educational materials have been developed for conducting lessons in schools.

Training sessions for teachers from 20 secondary schools in Baku and Khachmaz are scheduled to start on September 24. Then, prepared teachers will conduct the specified lesson for their students. Schools participating in the project will be marked on the world map on the World's Largest Lesson website. The initiative will conclude with a closing ceremony involving representatives from the Ministry of Education, UNICEF, and IDEA.

Since 2015, the World's Largest Lesson initiative has enabled millions of children and youth from more than 130 countries to understand the essence of Sustainable Development Goals and their contribution to achieving them.
