A Yard Full of Fun! 

In a developed and densely populated city such as Baku, people often forget that they actually dwell in nature. Trees are mainly perceived as merely an aesthetic accessory to an urban setting, while in fact they constitute the bedrock of urban ecology. Being aware of all the environmental, social and health benefits of green public spaces, in December 2017, IDEA launched a project to improve unmaintained outdoor facilities, parks and playgrounds in Baku’s neighborhoods. Based on requests from city residents, IDEA and its partners assess the needs of various spaces and provide support for people to live more enjoyable, safe, fun, and healthy lives outdoors, in the lap of nature. Most importantly, many trees and flowers are planted during opening ceremonies of renovated yards with the help of local residents and IDEA volunteers. The project is carried out with the support of district executive authorities of Baku.
