"Let's Protect the Gazelles!" ecological summer camp

IDEA Public Union, the Azerbaijan branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an ecological summer camp titled "Let's Protect the Gazelles!" within the framework of the "Reintroduction of Gazelles to Their Historically Inhabited Areas in the Caucasus" program. According to information provided by IDEA to Trend, the camp, which was attended by more than 30 schoolchildren from the Gakh and Shaki regions, was organized on June 10–12 in the village of Ilisu, Gakh district.
The main goal of the "Let's Protect the Gazelles!" ecological summer camp was to educate the younger generation living in areas where gazelles have been reintroduced about this species. During the camp, participants received extensive information about the lifestyle of gazelles, the regions they inhabit, and their role in nature. The children also took part in various small ecological studies, quizzes, and competitions. On the second day of the camp, a cleanup action was conducted around the Ilisu waterfall. Additionally, all participants were given gifts and awarded certificates.
The "Reintroduction of Gazelles to Their Historically Inhabited Areas in the Caucasus" program has been successfully implemented since 2010 through the joint efforts of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, IDEA Public Union, and the WWF Azerbaijan branch. During these years, more than 150 gazelles from Shirvan National Park have been reintroduced to their historically inhabited areas, and their ongoing monitoring and protection are being carried out.
It should be noted that IDEA Public Union, the Azerbaijan branch of WWF, and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan regularly organize camps every year on environmental and biodiversity topics.
