Public Beaches

Creating a Clean, Welcoming Beach for Everyone! 

Along with regular coastal clean-up activities, IDEA has taken other steps to keep Baku’s public beaches neat and tidy. In 2019, IDEA established six exemplary public beach zones in Baku, namely in Shikh, Goradil, Novkhani, Buzovna, Pirshagi and Sahil settlements. After having been cleaned by IDEA volunteers, vast coastal areas were equipped with anti-littering and safety signs, waste and recycling bins, benches, tents, sunbeds, changing rooms, outdoor showers, volleyball and football fields, parking lot and other amenities. Entrance to public beaches and using their facilities is completely free of charge. The effort aims to help keep our shorelines clean, promote environmental and social responsibility, improve public health and sanitation, while providing comfort to beachgoers and maintaining the natural beauty of the region’s beaches.
