Public Beaches

Creating Clean and Safe Beaches for Everyone!

Along with conducting regular coastal clean-up activities, IDEA has implemented a range of additional measures to keep Baku’s public beaches clean, safe and welcoming.

In 2019, IDEA established six exemplary public beach zones in Shikh, Goradil, Novkhani, Buzovna, Pirshagi and Sahil settlements. In 2026, the initiative was expanded with the opening of a seventh exemplary public beach in Hovsan settlement.

After being cleaned by IDEA volunteers, the extensive coastal areas were equipped with safety and anti-littering signs, waste separation and recycling bins, benches, tents, sun loungers, changing rooms, outdoor showers, volleyball and football courts, parking areas and other essential amenities.

Admission to the public beaches and use of all available facilities are completely free of charge.

This initiative aims to keep coastal areas clean, promote environmental awareness and social responsibility, improve public health and sanitation, provide greater comfort for beachgoers and preserve the natural beauty of the coastline.

1. Shikh Public Beach — Shikh settlement, Sabail District, Baku, coastal area.
2. Goradil Public Beach — Goradil village, Absheron District, Novkhani–Pirshagi Road, coastal area.
3. Novkhani Public Beach — Novkhani settlement, Absheron District, coastal area.
4. Buzovna Public Beach — Buzovna settlement, Khazar District, Baku, coastal area.
5. Pirshagi Public Beach — Pirshagi settlement, Sabunchu District, Baku, coastal area.
6. Sahil Public Beach — Sahil settlement, Garadagh District, Baku, coastal area.
7. Hovsan Public Beach — Hovsan settlement, Surakhani District, Baku, coastal area.
