Under the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Association, a project promoting healthy nutrition in secondary schools has been launched.

Specifically, the IDEA Public Association will organize educational presentations on this topic for senior students of Baku’s secondary schools to promote healthy and responsible eating habits among young people. The project is implemented with the support of the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation, the Ministry of Education, the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health, and the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan.

It is well known that proper and adequate nutrition is one of the key conditions for human well-being, especially for the healthy development of young people and the realization of their potential. At the same time, the importance of responsible and sustainable food consumption should also be emphasized in terms of protecting the environment and, consequently, meeting the needs of future generations.

The first presentations were organized at the Heydar Aliyev Modern Education Complex and the Ilyas Efendiyev Elite Gymnasium. The presentations were conducted in an interactive and engaging manner, attracting great interest from the students. They learned what a healthy diet is, how poor nutrition affects the development of the body and brain, how irresponsible consumption impacts our planet, and received other useful information.

It should be noted that in recent years, under the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Association, numerous projects in the fields of environmental protection and sustainable development have been implemented in the country. The IDEA Public Association organizes events in collaboration with partners such as UNDP, FAO, and UNICEF to promote the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Azerbaijan, paying special attention to educating young people about sustainability from school age and increasing their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The IDEA Public Association encourages children to choose healthy foods instead of highly harmful “fast foods” and calls on parents to be attentive to this issue for the healthy and proper development of their children.
