Green Marathon

Held since 2014, the Green Marathon is a nation-wide tree planting campaign run by IDEA and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources in the spring and autumn seasons. The initiative to plant across the country aims at expanding green areas to help combat climate change and prevent deforestation and desertification. Millions of local tree species such as oleaster, pine, beech, cypress, acacia, maple, ash, walnut, oak, chestnut and olive were planted, in accordance with the soil and climatic conditions of different regions.
