“Green package” teaching aid

On May 16, the second edition of the “Green Package” multimedia textbook was presented at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

The textbook was developed to foster early awareness of the environment and sustainable development among schoolchildren and to educate young people with a sense of responsibility toward nature. It covers various aspects of human-nature relationships, as well as the principles of achieving economic growth and development without harming the environment. The textbook’s interactive games and video clips make learning both engaging and easy.

It should be noted that the “Green Package” was first published in Azerbaijan in 2006, and over the past decade, the development of information technologies has necessitated its updating. In this regard, the new edition of the “Green Package” was prepared through a two-year joint effort by the IDEA Public Union, the Regional Environmental Center (REC) for Central and Eastern Europe, and the “For Sustainable Development” Public Union.

Representatives of government agencies, non-governmental organizations, teachers, and specialists from various regions of the country attended the presentation.

During the event, in addition to the authors of the “Green Package,” representatives of the IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Education provided participants with detailed information about the project. It was noted that the “Green Package,” considered an interactive teaching resource on sustainable development and the environment, is intended for secondary school teachers and students, as well as for the supplementary education system, and is structured in modular form. The newly presented edition of the “Green Package” textbook is planned to be made available to teachers and students starting from the next academic year. The implementation of this textbook in the country will not only represent an innovation in the field of education but also enable schoolchildren to understand the environment through innovative methods.

It should be noted that environmental education for youth is one of the priority areas of the IDEA Public Union. The environmental education program, regularly conducted at IDEA’s resource centers in Baku and Ganja, covers children and young people of various age groups, starting from the age of five.
