Opening of a New Yard under the Our Yard Project

At the initiative of the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Association, Leyla Aliyeva, yards housing more than 2,200 residents within multi-storey buildings have been landscaped and made accessible to the residents, as part of the Green World Solidarity Year. These yards are located at the following addresses: Baku, Khatai district, Rakhib Mamedov Street, numbers 4, 4a, 15q, and Javanshir Street, numbers 7 and 9.

Leyla Aliyeva, present at the ceremony held on April 16, actively participated in the mass tree planting campaign held as part of the event, and graciously presented gifts to the young residents of the yard.

It's noteworthy that the primary aim of the Our Yard project is to enhance cleanliness and environmental quality in the capital's yards, rejuvenate green spaces, foster an atmosphere conducive to meaningful recreation, and establish safe and comfortable living environments for residents. The landscaped yards facilitate convenient movement for individuals with disabilities. To cater to the development needs of children of all age groups, as well as to effectively organize leisure time for the youth and foster their interest in sports, amenities such as a football field with artificial turf and a chess court have been installed on the premises. Additionally, various sports facilities and playgrounds for children have been constructed. Gazebos, numerous benches, birdhouses, and cat shelters have also been erected in the yards. Furthermore, new lighting poles and surveillance cameras have been installed, and the facades and blocks of buildings have undergone complete refurbishment, including updates to asphalt, roofing surfaces, and electrical lines.

In tandem with the restoration of green spaces, 1,680 seedlings of various trees and 19,256 shrubs have been planted, while landscaping efforts have covered an area of 8,549 sq.m. To combat air pollution, dense vegetation like common marble ivy and other climbing plants have been strategically planted along the perimeter of the yard, forming "green barriers".

It's important to highlight that since 2017, as part of the Our Yard project initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, founder and head of IDEA, 152 residential areas have been landscaped and made available to residents.

Moreover, IDEA encourages residents to submit proposals and requests pertaining to yard improvement and reconstruction work. Requests can be sent to the hotline "1113" or the email address ([email protected]) of IDEA.
