On 12 December 2015, a survey was held in Baku’s fountain square and Park Bulvar shopping mall to study the attitudes of city residents towards dogs and, in particular, their views on stray dogs. The survey is held as part of the complex project on stray animal population control carried out by IDEA Public Union.
The foundation of the IDEA Animal Care Center was laid by the Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva, at the groundbreaking ceremony that took place in October of 2014. Besides establishment of the aforementioned center, which is currently under construction, the project envisages the study of the problem relating to the increase of stray dog and cat populations in the country, which includes the conduct of relevant surveys.
Up to 1500 respondents participated in the survey carried out in the center of Baku. It should be noted the two-week long survey of IDEA Public Union is also conducted in the Yasamal, Binagadi, Nizami, Khazar, Narimanov and Nasimi districts of Baku.
