On 03 October 2015, on the occasion of the annual global campaign “Clean Up the World”, IDEA Public Union and “Tamiz Shahar” JSC held another cleanup action, which was carried out on the territory of the Buzovna beach. It should be noted that a research by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has revealed that the shore in Buzovna is the most polluted beach in Baku. For this reason, the cleanup action was held at that very location.

Held under the motto “Let us unite for nature in the Clean Up Weekend!”, the action aims to end the pollution and contamination of coastal areas and to raise public awareness about the need to keep coasts clean, as the pollution of the Caspian coast by visitors causes degradation of the marine environment, especially of its wildlife.

Considering the high level of coastal pollution observed annually after the beach season in Azerbaijan and throughout the world, IDEA Public Union organizes such social events each year on Baku’s beaches with the participation of hundreds of youths.

The event organized in connection with the “Clean Up the World” international campaign has enjoyed broad public interest and people of different ages groups have joined the initiative. Participants that were particularly active in the cleanup of the beach received memorial gifts from IDEA.

Furnished with all the necessary sanitary equipment, the participants of the cleanup action assorted the collected waste and determined the most common types of waste found on the beach. Afterwards, the waste was delivered to the Balakhani Solid Waste Sorting Plant by special vehicles.

Regardless of the season, IDEA Public Union calls upon each individual to care about the environment, including through caring for the coasts, and to contribute to the ongoing efforts against ecological problems.
