To mark the annual “International Cleanup Week”, IDEA Public Union organized a coastal cleanup event at the Caspian shores near the “Shikh” (Şıx) beach, Baku on 6 September 2014.

The event supported by “Clean City” (Təmiz Şəhər OSJC) aimed to remove trash from the beach, attract youth to the cleanup of nature and call on people to avoid littering the coastal zones.

The event was held under the slogan “Together for nature in the cleanup week” with the participation of more than 100 volunteers, who were equipped with special sanitary gloves. Volunteers split the trash into food and non-food waste before shipping it to the Balakhany Solid Waste Sorting Plant.

IDEA traditionally organizes cleanup events in different coastal areas and beaches of Baku every year.
