Tovuz district joined the first nationwide Green Marathon that was launched on 5th of November 2014.

On November 8, with the organization of Executive Body of Tovuz district, in the framework of “First Green Marathon”, 5000 trees were planted in the right bank of Tovuz river, along Tovuz-Khatinli-Qarakhanli road, Qaziqulu village, in the territory of ancient Goytapa settlement and along Baku-Qazakh highway that pass through the territory of district.
On November 27, in the framework of “First Green Marathon” that was started by IDEA Public Union, with the organization of Executive Body of Tovuz district, 2000 trees were planted by labor collectives of education and healthcare institutions in the territory of the district.
Within "Green Marathon" 43314 trees, including Sycamore, olive, Eldar pine, cypress, oak, ash-tree, acacia, birch etc. were planted in Tovuz district, between 12 March and 09 April.
